For 30 years, Home Depot associates have worked alongside their neighbors to make their communities a better place. From the time The Home Depot’s very first store opened in 1979, giving back to communities has been one of their core values.
Mission
The Home Depot Foundation is dedicated to building affordable homes for working families that are healthy to live in and affordable to own. To make homes healthy and affordable, the Foundation encourages developers to incorporate responsible design and use durable materials to ensure that homes are more energy and water efficient, have good indoor air quality, and provide a safe and healthy space to live.
Home Depot's Pledge
In 2007, The Home Depot Foundation made a long-term commitment to building homes and communities that are healthy and strong. The home supply retailer pledged to invest $400 million to build and rehabilitate 100,000 affordable homes and to plant and restore three million trees in ten years. What They Do
Through the efforts of The Home Depot Foundation and Team Depot volunteers, The Home Depot donates millions of dollars and thousands of hours each year to refurbish healthy homes, parks and playgrounds and plant community trees. This is part of a coordinated company strategy to build and support thriving, sustainable neighborhoods across the country.
30 Year Project
September is 'Celebration of Service' month at Home Depot. To honor the company’s 30th anniversary and their legacy of community service, associates in each of Home Depot's three U.S. divisions will complete 30 volunteer projects in 30 days. Just as they do throughout the year, associates will plant community gardens, weatherize low-income homes, clean up wetlands, refurbish schools and parks, and create outdoor classrooms, completing a total of 90 projects nationwide!
