Swiffer Sweepers are convenient but expensive in the long term. Find out where to find Swiffer Sweeper coupons or opt for Swiffer alternatives.

The task of sweeping and mopping the floor became easier and almost fun when the Swiffer® Sweeper came on the market. The fad started with a broom alternative — the Swiffer Sweeper — and the product line quickly expanded to include Swiffer Wet cloths, the Swiffer WetJet and the Swiffer SweeperVac, allowing consumers to replace their brooms, mops and even their vacuum cleaners.

While most would agree that Swiffer products are more convenient than a traditional broom and dustpan or mop and bucket, they’re not cheap due to the cost of the refill pads and refill cleaning solution, which has left shoppers seeking Swiffer coupons and other convenient yet affordable alternatives.

Where to Find Swiffer Coupons

Swiffer coupons can be hard to come by; they’re rarely found on printable coupon websites and it can take a bit of searching to find clippable Swiffer coupons.

Here are a few places where bargain hunters may find Swiffer coupons:

  • The Swiffer website (Swiffer.com) has a promotions section where consumers can request Swiffer coupons by mail. There is a limit of one per household. Printable coupons are occasionally available on the site, particularly when a new product is unveiled.
  • Check the Sunday paper’s store circular/coupon section for Swiffer coupons that are sometimes offered by drug stores, grocery stores and department stores like Wal-Mart or Target.
  • Visit printable coupon websites like Coupons.com or CouponMountain.com and search for coupons for specific products (i.e. Swiffer WetJet or Swiffer Dusters) or browse the available coupons by category type (i.e. grocery coupons, home and garden coupons).

To save money on gas and travel time, it’s best to shop at a store that accepts competitors’ coupons. When a coupon for Swiffer or another desired product is found in a store circular or on a website for a store that’s out of the way, that coupon can be used at a store with a more convenient location as long as the store accepts competitors’ coupons. This makes saving money with coupons much easier and consumers can save money without having to visit multiple stores.

Convenient and Affordable Alternatives to Mops and Brooms

Recently, some stores have started selling convenient, cost-effective alternatives for sweeping and mopping, and with a bit of creativity, it’s not hard to come up with a homemade alternative to products like the Swiffer WetJet.

Target and other “big box” stores now sell a mop/sweeper that’s similar in appearance to the Swiffer Sweeper. But instead of using disposable pads, it uses washable fabric pads that slide over the mop head and stay in place with elastic. They can be used while dry or dampened.

The disadvantage is that the reusable sweeper pads are a bit less convenient unless multiple fabric mop pads are purchased; otherwise, when cleaning large areas at once, the fabric sweeper pad must be rinsed out in the sink repeatedly. If several fabric sweeper pads are purchased, they can be switched out in the same way that one would switch Swiffer pads when cleaning a large area; at the end, the pads can be laundered and reused.

A homemade equivalent of the Swiffer WetJet can be created by purchasing a spray bottle, which can then be filled with floor cleaner or a homemade floor disinfecting solution of one part bleach to nine parts water. Then, while using the mop with reusable fabric pads, use the spray bottle to moisten the floor in small three-by-three foot sections using the "jet" nozzle setting (rather than the fine spray setting).

For consumers who are looking for a wet mopping system that has disposable pads, the Clorox ReadyMop® is a very similar product and Clorox coupons are generally a bit easier to find. In addition, the sweeper pads are essentially interchangeable and the Clorox floor cleaning solution can be used to refill the Swiffer WetJet container (or vice versa.)

When saving money is a priority, there’s no need to revert back to a mop and bucket or broom and dustpan; homeowners can use a bit of creativity to make a Swiffer alternative. Or consumers can perform a bit of research to find Swiffer coupons, and when coupons are available or when there’s a sale, multiple Swiffer refill packages can be purchased as a way to save money.
